About me
I have graduated from the Prague University of Economics and Business, the Faculty of International Relations with a master thesis focusing on energy security and my doctoral thesis on liberalization of the electricity and gas markets in the European Union. I am an alumni of the Robinson-Martin Security Scholars Academy organized by the Prague Security Studies Institute and I have also gained the certificate of excellence during my international study internship program in Copenhagen (2007). As part of my further professional education I have successfully passed the Certification Program in Strategy Generation, Change Management and Leadership Development by InterLeader and I continue taking professional courses on various topics of energy to continuously broaden my expertise.
Academia and sharing my knowledge and expertise with the younger generation have always been my passions. This is why I dedicated three years to serving as the Director of the Institute of Energy Economics at the Faculty of Public Economics of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Furthermore, for the past eight years, I have been teaching a course titled "Geopolitics of Energy in the 21st Century" at the Economic University in Prague.
Energy policy and the geopolitics of energy have been central to my interests. This is why, even during my studies, I actively engaged as an energy policy and energy security analyst at the think-tank Association for International Affairs, a role I continued until my involvement at the Ministry (detailed further below).
Even as a university student, I was employed by the Czech transmission system operator ČEPS, a.s., where I worked in the Strategy Department. I participated in numerous strategic and transformative projects, including some related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Between 2013 and 2017, I worked at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, initially as the Head of the Department of Analysis and Forecasts in the Energy Sector, and later as the Director of Strategy and International Cooperation in the Energy Sector. In 2015, I was appointed Deputy Minister responsible for Energy. My responsibilities covered the electricity industry, renewables, liquid and gaseous fuels, energy efficiency, and the comprehensive areas of energy strategy and international cooperation in the energy sector. In my role at the Ministry, I also represented the Czech Republic at the EU level (Strategic Group, Directors General, Energy Councils), the International Energy Agency (Governing Board and Standing Group on Long-Term Cooperation), the International Energy Charter, Visegrad Group, etc. For three years, I was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Czech transportation system operator NET4GAS, and for two years, a member (and for one year chairwoman) of the Supervisory Board of the Czech transmission system operator in electricity, ČEPS, a.s. In 2016, EurActiv.cz named me the most influential personality in the Czech energy sector.
From 2018 to May 2022, I served as the Executive Director of the Czech Gas Association, an umbrella organization representing the interests of the Czech gas industry both domestically and internationally, and responsible for issuing technical standards for the gas sector. Additionally, I was active in the Strategic Committee of Eurogas and a member of the Executive Board of Marcogaz.
Since June 2022, I have worked as an independent energy & PA consultant for multiple Czech and foreign companies.
In 2022 I co-founded International Public Affairs Academy CZ and I serve as its Managing Partner.
